Economic Empowerment Groups

Project dates: Nov. 2022 – Feb. 2023

Location: Wakiso district, Kireka D Division, Kasokoso Kiganda zone

Goal: $5,000

This project focuses on supporting 5 self-help groups. The collected donations will be used to purchase startup items for these groups. These items will enable the group members to start or continue their activities. Working together in self-help groups has a proven track record of breaking the cycle of poverty and improving livelihoods. The skills that the women and youth will learn through these groups, not only improve their mental well-being but provides them with skills they can use for self-employment.

The formed self-help groups and their vocational skills are:

Group 1: Liquid and Bar soap-making

Group 2:  Scholastic Exercise book-making

Group 3: Shoe designing and making

Group 4: Baking and making confectionary

Group 5: Designing and sewing clothes
