De Nazarin Community Relief

Our main focus is on the theme of livelihood, and one of our main objectives is to examine how communities are set up into groups that can be strengthened in order to improve livelihood. When people come together, they exchange a lot of knowledge and experiences, which strengthens their bonds. In order to be resilient in their communities, the communities were organized into different saving groups  and one of the groups was a book-making group made up of women.

The DNCR organized the book-making group of women to investigate how they may enhance their standard of living while still being able to provide for their offspring. After COVID 19 struck the country in 2022, they banded together as a community to save but also to discuss ideas that would better their way of life. They were able to start their endeavor by purchasing materials thanks to the modest help they received from De Nazarin Community Relief.

They were able to host Sarika, a guest from Germany, who came to witness how the women were surviving and bouncing back after COVID 19. They guided her through the novel experience of creating a book using materials that were readily available nearby.

The project has been successful in producing earnings that are distributed among the group’s members.  capital is returned to the group  and the same members have independent businesses in addition to the collective initiative which support them in saving.
